Evans has 12 stops in field hockey setback

MEDFORD, Massachusetts — Sarah Evans made 12 saves in goal for the Colby College field hockey team in a 3-0 loss to eighth-ranked Tufts University on Saturday.

The Mules are 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. Tufts moved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in league play. Colby will play Sunday at Endicott College at 1 p.m.
Evans made eight of her stops in the first half to keep the game at 1-0 at the break. Gigi Tutoni scored with just 27 seconds left to halftime.
 
Tufts scored the final two goals in a span of 18 seconds, both coming off the stick of Celia Lewis. She tallied at 48:45 from Mary Kate Patton and then at 49:03 from Dakota Sikes-Keilp.
 
The Mules did have opportunities and had a 12-8 advantage in penalty corners. Tufts finished with a 21-13 margin in shots and goalie Libby Desruisseau stopped eight shots.
 
Megan Fortier had seven total shots and had four go on goal. Misha Strage and Anna Rudinski both had two shots on goal.
