LEWISTON, Maine – The Thomas College field hockey team was shutout by
Bates College 4-0 on Wednesday night in a non-conference contest.
Taylor Lough scored a hat trick to lead the Bobcats.
Bates' Claire Markonic scored the game's initial goal in the second
minute, getting the Bobcats on the scoreboard early. Lough recorded one
goal in the first half and the final two goals in the second half to
complete the hat trick.
Thomas was outshot by Bates in a 20-1 margin, and the Terriers were
unable to get a shot on goal. The Bobcats also held a 9-1 advantage in
corners.
Abbie Charrier made eight saves for Thomas in the loss while Katie Knox did not record a save in the shutout victory.
The Terriers will return to the field on Friday, September 25 as they
travel to Castleton University for their first conference matchup. The
contest is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
