Bowdoin Women's Lacrosse Rallies In Second Half To Edge Conn. College

Emma Beecher led Bowdoin with four goals against Conn. College
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team used a five-goal run in the second half to win its first conference game of the season, 14-12, over Connecticut College on Saturday at Ryan Field.

The Polar Bears improve to 5-6 (1-6 NESCAC) while the Camels fall to 5-6 (1-5 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • In a game that featured big runs by both squads, Bowdoin took command early with a 4-0 surge to take a 6-2 lead midway through the opening period
  • Lindsay Picard sparked the run with a pair of goals for the Polar Bears
  • Conn. College responded with a 6-0 run before the break as Hannah Donegan and Erin Moran each scored twice to give the visitors an 8-6 edge at intermission
  • The teams traded goals in the opening 15 minutes of the second half as Conn. College still maintained a two-goal, 11-9 lead
  • Bowdoin's decisive run started with three goals in a span of 46 seconds. Emma Beecher closed the gap to 11-10 before Hannah Hirschfeld's free position goal evened the score with 14:36 to go. Just 27 seconds later Mettler Growney put the Polar Bears on top for good
  • The Polar Bears scored twice more, courtesy of Brooke Bullington and Megan O'Connor, to extend the lead to 14-11 before a late Camel goal by Lacey Hale closed the final margin to 14-12

  • Kayli Weiss stopped nine shots for Bowdoin while Meg Raskin made 12 saves for Conn. College
  • Bowdoin dominated the draws 19-9, including a crucial 11-2 margin in the second half to spark the game-winning rally

  • Donegan led all players with five goals in the loss for Conn. College
