Sea Dogs Win Third Straight Game
Pimentel Earns First Double-A Win
Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs (11-21) won their third straight game Wednesday night defeating the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5-4 at Hadlock Field. Portland sweeps the abbreviated two game series against the Fisher Cats (13-18).
Stolmy Pimentel (1-0) earned his first Double-A win in 18 starts holding the Fisher Cats to two runs on five hits in six innings of work. He walked one and notched one strike out. He tosses 62 pitches, 40 for strikes. Pimentel shutout the Blue Jays' affiliate for the first five innings but surrendered two runs in the sixth.
Portland clubbed 13 hits including a 3-for-4 performance from Juan Carlos Linares who scored two runs and knocked in two runs raising his average to .385.
Bryce Brentz, 2-for-4, homered for the second straight game in the second inning, his third of the year, which gave Portland a 1-0 lead.
The Sea Dogs extended the lead in the fourth inning when Linares led-off the inning with a double off Brett Cecil (0-3), advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on an Oscar Tejeda sacrifice fly to right-field.
New Hampshire tied the game in the sixth inning. Ryan Goins led-off the inning with a double and scored on a RBI single by Mike McDade. John Tolisano added a RBI double to right-field to plate Jonathan Diaz.
Tejeda drove-in his second run of the game to break a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth with a RBI single to score Daniel Butler.
Portland extended the lead in the seventh when Linares lined a two run single to center off Aaron Loup to make it 5-2 Portland.
Brock Huntzinger tossed two no-hit innings in relief of Pimentel.
Despite yielding a two run homer in the ninth to Brad Glenn, Charle Rosario earned his second save of the season.
It is the first series sweep at Hadlock Field for the Sea Dogs since September 3-6, 2010 when they swept a four game set from the Fisher Cats.
The Sea Dogs begin a seven game road trip on Thursday with a 7:05 PM against the Trenton Thunder from Waterfront Park in Trenton, New Jersey. Right-handed pitcher Chris Martin (2-2, 4.30) will get the start for the Sea Dogs. Trenton will send righty Brett Marshall (3-1, 3.82) to the hill.
