York, Me.-The Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 10th season of the York (Gateway) Farmers’ Market kicking off on Saturday, June 2nd. The market has come a long way from the 7-8 vendors we started with back in 2003. The 2012 Saturday Market will feature approximately 30 local vendors, including several who are founding members! Our Thursday market will begin its second season this year and it is steadily growing.
We’re very excited to welcome the new sponsor of our summer farmers’ market, When Pigs Fly! According to Andrew Siegel, co-owner of When Pigs Fly, “The York Chamber of Commerce farmers market for the past ten years has been the spawning grounds for innovation, ideas and new businesses. The 2012 York Farmers' Market runs (rain or shine) every Saturday from June 2 through October 6 from 9:00am - 1:00pm and every Thursday from July 5 through August 30 from 9:00am - 1:00pm. The market takes place in the lot behind the Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce off Route 1 in York, Maine. Our food vendors offer fresh veggies & fruit, dairy products, seafood, herbs, meat, desserts, breads, pasta, tea, oils & spices, prepared foods and more. Craft products include lotions, soaps, wood goods, jewelry, candles and pottery.
Steph Oeser, market manager, says, “We’re really looking forward to this upcoming tenth season. We’re planning a big opening day celebration with live music and a ribbon cutting with When Pigs Fly; it’s going to be a fun way to kick off the season.”

Alternate vendors who will attend on various Saturdays throughout the season include: Brownie's Barkery, Carter Hill Orchard, Cooper Moon Studio, Foxes Ridge Folk Arts, Jane Eslinger Metalwork & Jewelry, Journey Gems LLC, Laura Sunderland, My Sweet Soap, Robinwoods Design, Rock Garden Pottery & Washed Ashore Designs. The Thursday markets, which start in July will feature: Chop-Chop, Connolly’s Organics, The Dirty Moose, Green Parrot Woodworks, Lakeside Family Farm, La Mouette Botanicals, Something Different, When Pigs Fly, Inc. & Zach's Farm. Alternate vendors who will attend on various Thursdays throughout the season include: Joelle Guerard Silversmith, Journey Gems LLC, Shaker Broom Maker & Washed Ashore Designs.
