Everyman Rep Receives Grant from Bangor Savings

Everyman Rep Receives Grant from Bangor Savings

Rockport, Maine - The Everyman Repertory Theatre was one of the lucky recipients of Bangor Savings Bank’s Community Matters More grants. With nearly 100,000 Mainers casting votes for their favorite organization, the Everyman Rep was among 68 non-profits deemed winners of this year’s effort. The bank granted a total of $100,000.

“Serving the midcoast community with high-quality professional theatre is what the Everyman Rep is all about,” said Artistic Director Paul Hodgson, “and it is great to receive this kind of recognition from the community we serve.”

This is going to be a busy summer for the Everyman Rep, which is planning a number of fundraising and profile-raising performances at both theatre and non-theatre venues. “We decided to have a summer of what we call ‘guerilla theatre’,” said Hodgson, “where we rehearse a play and go into a venue and give a one-off reading. Then we ask the audience if they would like to see a full production of the show. It helps us build our season based on tried and tested shows. And now that everyone can read that it says ‘guerilla’,” added Hodgson, “it means I don’t have to explain to anyone why we’re not wearing gorilla suits.”

Please check the Everyman Rep’s website (everymanrep.org) and our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/everymanrep) for announcements of dates, times and venues.

Theatre is not an exclusive art form. At the Everyman Rep we are committed to bringing live, professional theatre to as wide an audience as possible.

The Everyman Repertory Theatre, founded in 2008, is a registered 501(c)3, not-for-profit theatre company committed to bringing live, professional theatre to the people of Midcoast Maine.
