Camden, Maine - Rockport Dance Conservatory is proud to present their fifth annual Spring Showcase Saturday May 26th and Sunday May 27th at the Camden Opera House.
The Spring Showcase will feature award winning choreography in a variety of styles —musical theatre, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and tap,—but will also follow the set formula of a themed story line. Last year’s “Grimm Tales on Dark Trails” was presented with great accolades for its dancing, choreography, and costuming.
This year, Rockport Dance Conservatory’s themed second act is “Star Seeker,” which follows the story of a fallen star and cast of characters' quest to find it. Rockport Dance Conservatory is known for its blending of dance styles mixed all together in choreography to give stories greater depth and character. The high standard of dance technique and the award winning choreography taught at RDC equips their students to not only perform many dance genres, but also has given students the opportunity to achieve high silver, gold, and high gold ratings in their annual regional and national dance competitions. Four of the pieces being performed at this year’s Spring Showcase took home High Gold or Platnium awards with high scores at two regional competitions earlier this year. The strong technical background helps students bring great dancing skills to other community performance venues including school talent shows, school musicals, community fund raising events, as well as college dance auditions. Lastly, the discipline, mentoring, student unity, and passion for dance give students positive qualities they carry beyond studio doors and out into their daily lives.
The Rockport Dance Conservatory Spring Showcase is Saturday May 26th at 6:30pm and Sunday, May 27th at 1:00p.m. The cost is $15 for adults, $10 for Seniors/Students, children five and under are free.
