Friends of Blue Hill Library Film

Friends of Blue Hill Library Film

Blue Hill, Maine - The Friends of the Blue Hill Public Library Film Series concludes for the season on Thursday, June 7th at 7:00 PM with the Marx Brothers’ political satire comedy Duck Soup (1933), written by Burt Kalmar and Harry Ruby, and directed by Leo McCarey.  The film is a satire of blundering dictators, Fascism and authoritarian governments. Mussolini was insulted enough to ban the film in Italy. Now widely considered the Marx Brothers’ best film, it was a box office disappointment and critical flop when it first came out.

All films are shown free of charge on the Library’s “pretty big” screen in the Howard Room.  For more information, call the Library (374-5515) or Michael Donahue, 374-5248 or Donahue.mg@gmail.com.
