Family Barn Dance (French Canadian contra and square dances)


Lewiston, Maine - Montreal dance master Benoit Bourque will lead kids (age 6+), parents and grandparents in a Quebecois-Style “Barn Dance” at LPL on Saturday, May 19 from 2-3:30 p.m. in Callahan Hall.  The music will be provided by Bourque's 22-year-old accordionist son Antoine and a homegrown orchestra of local fiddlers and other Maine musicians. Part of a three-day community residency by Benoit and Antoine, this event is designed for youth and “young-at-heart” adults who would like to learn an assortment of fun and easy French Canadian contra and square dances. Admission: $1. Callahan Hall is located o n the third floor of the Library.
