Thunder Rally for 4-3 Win

Balcom-Miller Notches a Season-High Five Strikeouts  

Portland, Maine - The Trenton Thunder tied the game in the eighth inning and plated the winning run in the ninth inning to defeat the Portland Sea Dogs 4-3 Wednesday night at Hadlock Field.

The Yankees affiliate tied the game in the top of the eighth inning when Dan Brewer scooted home from third base on a Charle Rosario (2-1) wild pitch.

Dan Brewer led-off the top of the ninth with a triple and scored the game's winning run on a Kevin Mahoney double off the Maine Monster.

Portland threatened in the bottom half of the ninth but Trenton right-fielder Abraham Almonte threw out Ryan Dent at the plate on Kolbrin Vitek's single.

Preston Claiborne (1-1) earned the win tossing 1.2 innings of relief allowing one hit.  Ryan Flannery notched his third save of the season.

The Sea Dogs jumped on the scoreboard first when Dan Butler doubled home Reynaldo Rodriguez to take a 1-0 lead.  The Sea Dogs strung together three straight hits in the third inning including a RBI single to right off the bat of Juan Carlos Linares to score Jeremy Hazelbaker as the Sea Dogs took a 2-0 lead.

Trenton tied the game in the fourth inning.  Ronnier Mustelier hit his second home run of the series and third of the year to lead-off the inning.  Cody Johnson scored on a Kevin Mahoney sacrifice fly to centerfield.

Rodriguez swatted a solo home run to center off Trenton starter Craig Heyer in the sixth to break the 2-2 tie.  The home run was Rodriguez's second on the season.

Portland starter Chris Balcom-Miller tossed five innings allowing two runs on five hits.  He walked one and struck out a season high five batters.

Brock Huntzinger pitched two no-hit innings of relief for the Sea Dogs.

The two clubs will conclude the series Thursday at 6:00 PM.  Right-handed pitcher Stolmy Pimentel (0-0, 3.60) will get the start for the Sea Dogs.  Trenton will counter with lefty Shaeffer Hall (2-3, 3.72).  Tickets are available and can be purchased by calling the Sea Dogs Ticket Office at 207-879-9500 or online at www.seadogs.com.
