MAINE AUTHOR, ENERGY EXPERT AT LITHGOW LIBRARY ON MAY 9 & 10

MAINE AUTHOR, ENERGY EXPERT AT LITHGOW LIBRARY ON MAY 9 & 10
Editor: David Mills

Tom Fullam
AUGUSTA, ME - Lithgow Public Library will host two events on May 9 and 10.  On Wednesday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m., Earl Smith will do a reading from his new comic mystery, The Dam Committee as part of the library’s “Maine Authors in May” series.  The former dean of Colby College writes affectionately about the foibles of life in the fictitious village of Belfry, a summer resort nestled between two lakes separated by a dam.  Area residents may recognize an uncanny resemblance to Smith’s hometown of Belgrade Lakes.

Solar energy contractor Tom Fullam will give a program on Thursday, May 10 at 6:30 p.m. as part of Lithgow Library’s series on sustainability, “It’s Not Easy Being Green.”  Fullam will talk about building low-cost, extremely efficient homes.  Fullam is a licensed solar, heating and plumbing contractor and a state-certified energy auditor who has designed his own "Near Zero" home. His utility bill (electricity, heat and hot water) averages less than $40 a month. Fullam works as a consultant sharing building practices and home improvement methods which result in a more energy efficient home.

Both programs will take place in the Reading Room, and are free and open to the public. Copies of The Dam Committee will be available for purchase at Smith’s program.
