Boyer leads track team to second-place finish
Bucksport, Maine - The Foxcroft Academy boys’ outdoor track team amassed 113 points to finish second out of eight teams at Monday afternoon’s meet at Bucksport High School. Hampden Academy won the meet with 208 points.
Donnie Boyer put on a clinic, racking up 30 points with victories in the 110 meter hurdles, the high jump, and the triple jump. Cody Levensalor (1st in the shot put), Ryan Wang (2nd in the 200 meter dash, 3rd in the 100 meter dash, 4th in the javelin throw), Alex Stevens (4th in the 110 meter hurdles, 5th in the 300 meter hurdles), Zach Smith (2nd in the 400 meter dash, 5th in the 100 meter dash, 5th in the 200 meter dash), Louis Lafache (2nd in the shot put, 3rd in the discus throw), and Pete Boyer (4th in the 300 meter hurdles) also earned individual points for the Ponies.
In relay action, Pete Boyer, Stevens, Colby Bombero, and Wang were runners up in the 4x100 meter relay, Smith, Garrett Hilton, Stevens, and Pete Boyer placed third in the 4x400 meter relay, and Hilton, Julian Zepeda, James Birtwistle, and Sebastian Zepeda finished third in the 4x800 meter relay.
The girls’ team accumulated 31 points to place fifth out of eight teams, trailing Hampden, Hermon, Central, and Bucksport. Chelsie Oldfield won the 3200 meter run by more than 30 seconds and finished third in the 1600 meter run. Fern Morrison ran away with the 800 meter run, besting Bucksport’s Nelly Winship by 12 seconds, and Monica Miles earned a point with a sixth-place finish in the 400 meter dash. In relay action, Miles, Morrison, Jenny Boyer, and Chastity Vainio placed fourth in the 4x100.
