AUGUSTA, ME - Education Commissioner Stephen Bowen issued the following statement Tuesday in response to the Maine Charter School Commission's announcement that it is accepting applications from potential charter school operators:
This is an important step toward creating more educational options that work for our families and kids. Maine's new charter school law is one of the valuable tools available to us as we work to make sure our state's education system meets the individual needs of each student. Gov. LePage, working with legislators, has made giving choice to families and students a cornerstone of his education agenda.
