BATH, ME - There was great anticipation in Sewall Hall Friday afternoon as dozens of invited guests gathered to be the first to see the Museum's latest acquisition - a newly commissioned model of the world's largest wooden sailing vessel, the schooner Wyoming. After a few words from Executive Director Amy Lent, Senior Curator Nathan Lipfert and the model's builder Mark Wilkins, the crowd's curiosity was satisfied as the drape was removed from the display case and the six-mast schooner model was revealed. An enthusiastic round of applause erupted as the guests saw the handsome model's intricate workmanship for the first time. Compass Circle events, like this one, are created for and open to the Museum's strongest supporters.
