Sea Dogs' Bats Stymied, Shutout 5-0 at New Britain
Sea Dogs' offense collect four hits in loss
Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs (8-21) mustered a mere four hits in the 5-0 loss to the New Britain Rock Cats (18-11) Saturday night at New Britain Stadium.
Estarlin De Los Santos got the scoring going for the Rock Cats with a two-run triple in the second inning off of Portland lefty Chris Hernandez. Hernandez (1-2) regrouped from the two run inning to finish the fifth and allowed the two runs on two hits, he walked three and struck out three Rock Cats before turning to the bullpen.
The two runs were all the Rock Cats would need, however they picked up three runs in the sixth off of righty Brock Huntzinger. Huntzinger allowed the three runs on four hits in the frame. Eammon Portice pitched the final two innings, and did not allow a hit.
David Bromberg took the hill for New Britain and picked up right where the pitching staff left of the night before, retiring 14 of the first 15 hitters to begin the game. The lone hit was a leadoff double in the second from Reynaldo Rodriguez.
Bromberg (1-0) finished the fifth and allowed hits to the Sea Dogs' offense. Caleb Theilbar and Luis Perdomo combined to close out the final four innings on the mound for New Britain.

The Sea Dogs continue their brief three-game road trip with the final game of a three game series against the New Britain Rock Cats Sunday afternoon at 1:35 PM at New Britain Stadium. Portland will send right-handed pitcher Billy Buckner (0-2, 4.50) to the mound. New Britain will counter with righty B.J. Hermsen (0-0, 1.29). The Sea Dogs can be heard on the U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs radio network with 95.5/95.9 FM WPEI serving as the flagship station.
