Bangor, Maine - The following are great events happening in downtown Bangor this month.


Women in War 1861-1865 Exhibit- Tuesdays-Saturdays 10 AM- 3 PM at Thomas A. Hill House.  Exhibitfocuses on the civil war when women weren't allowed on the battlefield.  Come learn how Bangor women were spies and more on the homefront.  Some even impersonated me in order to serve in the war! This exhibit will run into 2013.

Greendrinks night at the Museum- Tuesday, May 8th 5 pm - 8 pm   at Maine Discovery Museum.  Bangor Greendrinks returns to MDM.  Bring your mug and your kiddos to MDM this Tuesday to learn all about their sustainability initiatives and new exhibit Kids in Motion.  $5 donation requested.

Raising Readers at MDM- Friday May 11th. Children's book author Melissa Sweet will visit MDM on Friday, May 11th. Reduced admission is just $2 from 2 PM on.  Enjoy Melissa's book, Baby Bear's Big Day. Meet the author at 3 and 4 PM.

Black Bears of Bangor Monthly Social- Thursday May 17th, 6-7 PM, Hero's. Are you a UMaine Alum?  Stop by Hero's for a chance to network with fellow Black Bears.  All are welcome, full menu and cash bar.

The Greenest Building Maine Premiere-Friday May 18th, 5:30 PM, Bangor Opera House. Americans are on a path to demolish one third of our existing building stock either for redevelopment or from lack of planning. This evocative film explores the environmental value of reusing buildings rather than demolishing them and asks: "Is a new building the greenest building choice?"   Film screening followed by a reception with filmmaker Jane Turville.  $5 donation requested.

Kid Central Festival- Saturday May 19th, 10 AM- 3 PM.  600 kids can't be wrong! Discover downtown fun for all ages with FREE activities for kids 12 and under at downtown businesses, museums and organizations. Schedule details will be announced on their website.

Art Factory Family Fun Day- Saturday May 26th, 11AM- 3PM, UMaine Museum of Art.  Bring the whole family to University of Maine Museum of Art free art-making event!

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change- Opening May 30th at Penobscot Theatre.
