Thursday York Gateway Farmers’ Market Begins July 5th

We are kicking off the first Thursday market of the season on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 9:00am – 1:00pm. Stop by before work or during your lunch hour to stock up on fresh veggies & fruit, locally raised pork, seafood, herbs, desserts, breads, sandwiches, prepared foods, crafts and more. Our Saturday Gateway (York) Farmers’ Market has been running since June 2nd (and will continue to run every week through October 6th). The Thursday market is a great way to beat the Saturday crowds during the busy months of July and August. Both markets are presented by the Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by When Pigs Fly.

Steph Oeser, market manager, says, “We’re excited to kick off the second Thursday season on July 5th with the new market hours from 9-1pm. At the end of last season, we tallied up vendor surveys about different aspects of the market and decided to adjust the Thursday market hours to match the Saturday hours. The majority of vendors said they thought 9-1pm would work because our customers are more accustomed to those hours. Hopefully this change will ease confusion and better establish the market in customers’ weekly routines. The Thursday market is still young and growing; we’re looking forward to seeing how this season takes shape.”

The 2012 York Farmers' Market runs (rain or shine) every Saturday from June 2 through October 6 from 9:00am - 1:00pm and every Thursday from July 5 through August 30 from 9:00am - 1:00pm. The market takes place in the lot behind the Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce off Route 1 in York, Maine.

The Thursday markets will feature: Bridgewater Farm, Brownie’s Barkery, Chop-Chop, Connolly’s Organics, The Dirty Moose, Good Morning Cupcake!, Green Parrot Woodworks, Lakeside Family Farm, La Mouette Botanicals, Something Different, Zach's Farm. Alternate vendors who will attend on various Thursdays throughout the season include: Joelle Guerard Silversmith, Journey Gems LLC, Shaker Broom Maker & Washed Ashore Designs. Please visit www.gatewayfarmersmarket.com for details about vendors and their products. This list is growing daily!
