Camden, Maine - Join artist Diane Getty in a workshop to enshrine your favorite small objects. Everyone has little mementos and souvenirs hidden away in drawers, trinket boxes, sewing baskets, desks, etc. Rescue them! Take them from the darkness and enjoy them in an artistic setting. Cigar boxes, paint, paper and glue will be provided to help you create a personal and permanent arrangement of your treasures.
The workshop will be hosted by the Camden Public Library on Saturday, August 4, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Diane Getty is the “Artist of the Month” at the library and her exhibit of fabric art, “Bits and Pieces: Mixed Media Collage and Assemblage” will be on display in the Picker Room throughout August. Please call 236-3440 to register for the workshop. The workshop is free although donations will be accepted.
“Look for buttons, small toys, love notes, photos, swatches, etc.,” says Diane, “although you might want to use copies of photos rather than the originals. Bring your extra supplies and items to share on our ‘Swap Shop’ table. All you need is your creativity, energy, and a lunch!” For ages 16 and up. Please bring a brown bag lunch.
