Portland Ovations Announces Glen Campbell: The Goodbye Tour at Merrill Auditorium

PORTLAND, Maine - Portland Ovations announced that they will be bringing Grammy-award winning and legendary musician/songwriter Glen Campbell to Portland for a very special concert as part of his Goodbye Tour on Tuesday, October 16th at Merrill Auditorium.

A true American icon whose career spans five-decades with more than 70 albums, 81 hits and 45 million records sold, Campbell started as a session musician in Los Angeles in 1960 and was part of a group of studio musicians known as "the Wrecking Crew." During this time he played on recordings by Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Merle Haggard, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. With pure talent and southern charm, Glen Campbell then started what would be a legendary solo career with his biggest hits coming in the 1960's and 70's including; Wichita Lineman, Galveston, By the Time I Get to Phoenix, Gentle on My Mind, Southern Nights and Rhinestone Cowboy. He made history in 1967 winning four Grammy Awards in both country and pop categories. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005 and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.

Announcing he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Campbell decided to forge ahead with both the tour and his final studio album Ghost on the Canvas, which has been greeted with unprecedented critical acclaim. This special and historical concert is a celebration of his extraordinary five-decade-plus career.
