A main stay for 36 years, Chiarchiaro has helped oversee the growth of the museum from what started as a single hangar with two cars, two airplanes and a high wheel bicycle to a 100,000 square foot facility housing one of the finest operating collections of pioneer ground and air vehicles in the country.
During his tenure, the museum has added a year round schedule of educational programs and events. Most significant among them is the annual New England Auto Auction of antique, classic and special interest vehicles that raises, on average, more than $250,000 for the museum each year. In addition, the museum community has grown to more than 3,000 members with a dedicated team of over 200 volunteers.
"To have been a part of the growth and success of this museum has been extremely rewarding," said Chiarchiaro. "But it is certainly the personal relationships I have made along the way that are the most satisfying."
"I am now looking forward to embrace new opportunities afforded by this change," Chiarchiaro said adding he plans to remain actively involved as a consultant to non-profit organizations.
