Lincoln Theater to Bring Back Frankenstein

Damariscotta, Maine - Due to popular request, for one night only on Thursday, July 19 at 7 PM,  Lincoln Theater will be screening an encore broadcast from the National Theater in London of Frankenstein, a new play by Nick Dear based on the novel by Mary Shelley.  Running just 2 hours with no intermission, Oscar-winner Danny Boyle (127 Hours, Slumdog Millionaire) returned to the theater to direct this visionary production with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller.  Benedict Cumberatch and Jonny Lee Miller alternate the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature in two electrifying broadcasts.  The encore will be the “reverse” production, the one not shown previously at Lincoln Theater.

In this multiple award-winning play, childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein's bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal.

Urgent concerns of scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil are embedded within this thrilling and deeply disturbing classic gothic tale.

Tickets are just $15 for adults and $5 for children.  Additional information can be found on the theater’s website at www.aththelincoln.org or by calling 563-3424 during normal box office hours, Tuesday through Friday from 1-5 PM.
