Lewiston, Maine - The Lewiston Recreation Department is proud to announce that they are teaming up with Maineiax Lacrosse to bring a summer lacrosse camp to Lewiston. The boys and girls camp will run from August 6th – August 9th with two divisions, and participants will be registered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Maineiax Lacrosse, of Cape Elizabeth, is committed to the development and growth of Maine lacrosse players ages 9 – 18. It provides a full spectrum of programs from instructional clinics and private lessons to recruiting services and tournament teams.
The Little Sparks Division will be for grades 3 – 5 and beginners. The group will practice the fundamentals of the game in a non-contact setting. There will be two hours of instruction and lacrosse-oriented games. Participants need to bring water, cleats, mouth guard, and stick Recreation does have some sticks available for this age group.
The Big Sparks Division will be for grades 6 – 8. The first two hours will be focused on both basic and advanced individual skills as well as team concepts. The final 30 minutes of each day will feature game play. Participants need to bring water, cleats, mouth guard, stick, and full pads.
The fee to participate is $60, and the camp will be held at the Lewiston Athletic Park behind the Armory at 65 Central Avenue. Little Sparks will play each day from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., and Big Sparks will play from 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. There will be no rain dates or refunds for weather.
Girls Program Directors are: University of Southern Maine Head Coach Lauren Reid and University of New England Assistant Coach Kait Johnson. Boys Program Directors are: Bates College Assistant Coach TJ Bell and University of Southern Maine Head Coach Sam Lane.
Registration may be made at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Avenue, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and inquiries may be made at 513-3005; TTY/TDD 513-3007.
