“The Disappearance of Raoul Wallenberg” July 12
Dr. Richard Cornelia will give an illustrated talk on “The Disappearance of Raoul Wallenberg, Hero of the Holocaust,” on Thursday, July 12 at 6:30 pm, at the Camden Public Library. In late 1944 while World War II raged, Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg traveled to Budapest determined to save the last of Europe’s Jews. Secretly funded by the U.S. War Refugee Board, Raoul brazenly confronted SS Colonel Adolf Eichmann and successfully saved tens of thousands. At war’s end, his reward was arrest by the Soviets & disappearance. His fate was revealed decades later. Richard Cornelia is a frequent guest lecturer at the library; this will be his eighth talk in an ongoing series.
