Create A Fairy Garden at Merryspring‏

Event Location: Merryspring Nature Center, Camden/Rockport, Maine

Event Date/Time: Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m.  to 12 p.m

Humans aren’t the only ones who like gardens! Children and families are invited to join local author and librarian Liza Gardner Walsh in creating one-of-a-kind fairy container gardens at Merryspring Nature Center.  The workshop will take place on Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m.  to 12 p.m. outside at the Hexagon.

With some seeds, soil, and a little imagination, kids young and old can create miniature gardens perfect for attracting fairies. Guests will work with Liza in building their own miniature container gardens perfect for capturing the imaginations of young children. Supplies will be provided and will include herbs grown in Merryspring’s greenhouse. At the end of the workshop each participant will take home his or her truly unique creation. With permission, photos taken during this event may be used to illustrate a new book on fairy gardens currently being written by Walsh.

Liza Gardner Walsh is an author and educator from Camden. She currently serves as Youth Services Librarian at the Rockport Public Library. In her past, Liza has been a high school English teacher, a writing tutor, and a museum educator.
