Courtesy Boat Inspectors Needed at Biscay Beach and Nobleboro Boat Launch (Pemaquid Pond)

PWA is seeking volunteers dedicated to preserving the water quality in our precious ponds! Courtesy Boat Inspectors sign up for 2-hour shifts on weekends to educate boaters about invasive plants and check their boats for any hitchhiking plants. It's as simple as being able to converse and look for any plant fragment.

No previous experience or knowledge of invasive plants is necessary. You can learn by doing a shift with an experienced volunteer and also by watching a training session on a CD.

-The Nobleboro Boat Launch needs Courtesy Boat Inspectors on Saturdays between 10 and 2, and on Sundays from 8-10 and 12-2.
-Biscay Beach needs inspectors on Saturdays from 10-2, and on Sundays from 8-2. The Pemaquid-area ponds are at a high risk of invasion from hydrilla, a plant that has recently been found in Damariscotta Lake. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure - help staff the front lines against invasive plants!

Volunteers Needed to Install New Bearce-Allen Interpretive Signs

Sunday, July 15 from 1-4 pm. Calling all volunteers with cordless screwdrivers!  We will be installing new interpretive trail signs along the Bearce-Allen Preserve trails in Bristol. We need volunteers who are willing to carry relatively lightweight sign materials into the woods (loop is approximately 1 mile, easy terrain)
and use power screwdrivers to attach new signs to existing signposts. AND/OR Do you have a cordless screwdriver you'd like to loan us for that day? Let Amelia know.

To volunteer for either role, contact Amelia at 563-2196 or pwalearn@pemaquidwatershed.org this week!
