Augusta, Maine - Lisa Turner, author of The Eat Local Cookbook by Down East books, will close Lithgow Public Library’s series on sustainability on Thursday, May 31 at 6:30 p.m. The sustainability series, titled “It’s Not Easy Being Green,” included informational talks from solar energy and home efficiency experts, along with presentations about the proposed North Woods national park.
The author talk will take place in the Reading Room, and is free and open to the public. There will be an opportunity to purchase the cookbook at the program.
Turner is the owner of Laughing Stock Farm in Freepor,t a four season, certified organic, family-owned vegetable farm. The Eat Local Cookbook began as a collection of recipes Turner compiled for the farm’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members in 2010. The collection caught the attention of Down East editors, and she was asked to write a cookbook. Turner will talk about growing and cooking local, seasonal food.
