Augusta Memorial Bridge Work Begins

Augusta Memorial Bridge Work Begins

Augusta, Maine - Work has begun on the Augusta Memorial Bridge that spans the Kennebec River. Work includes re-painting and minor steel repair. This necessary re-painting will help prevent further rusting and to maintain the integrity of the structure. The work is expected to continue through November, with little to no traffic impacts.

However, the removal of the current paint will create significant noise. Contractors will need to blast the paint off the structure with "steel shot", similar to BBs. The loud noise this will create is unavoidable and we regret the inconvenience to local residents.

In order to complete the work in one painting season, hours will be from 6:00am to 7:00pm, six days a week. No work is expected to take place on Sundays and most holidays.
