Rockland, Maine - Camden resident and Ecuadorean expatriate Pablo Espinosa will present a dinner and talk on Friday, July 26, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Penobscot Language School, 28 Gay Street, in Rockland. Espinosa's subject will be, "From the Middle of the World to Maine." The public is most welcome to this cultural and social evening, presented in English. A table for those who wish to converse in Spanish over dinner will be provided.
Espinosa was born in Cuenca, Ecuador and is now a resident of Camden. He will talk about the geographic and cultural features of his country, small but nevertheless with extraordinary climate and conditions that attract tourists and adventurers. His own journey includes periods as a graphic designer in Chile, a jewelry designer in New York, and a decision to reinvent himself and live in Maine with his family. The July 26 event will allow Espinosa to share an extensive perspective on one immigrant’s experience.
Dinner will consist of traditional Ecuadorean specialties (choice of vegetarian/non-vegetarian): cheese or vegetable empanadas; Locro de Papa, a potato soup with cheese and avocado; fish or mushroom ceviche; an ensalada of red cabbage and carrots with a creamy lime dressing; and a dessert of Pastel de Tres Leches, with fruit.
