Small, private roads are the main type of roads found close to our large ponds and lakes in Waldo County. These roads can experience flooding, erosion and washouts, which make access challenging and can add sediment and pollutants to our lakes. Join expert Josh Platt of Maine Environmental Solutions to learn about building, maintaining and repairing small gravel roads.

Friday July 26th at 3:30 How to be "LakeSmart"
Lakes and large ponds in Waldo County support shoreline camps and residences, recreational boating and fishing and other activities. These activities also have the potential to create challenges in maintaining water quality. Sediment and nutrient increases can create potential for algal blooms and other problems which can impact fish and wildlife, water clarity, recreation, lake aesthetics, property values and human health. The LakeSmart program can help you and your neighbors work together to protect your lake by reducing these problems. Information on protecting loons will also be covered.
