Binghamton has the right stuff in 5-0 win over Portland

Sea Dogs drop the completion of yesterday's suspended game 2-0
Portland, Maine- On the night that Astronaut and Maine native Chris Cassidy made an appearance at the ballpark, it was the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (11-13) with the right stuff as they swept the Sea Dogs (9-13) on Friday night at Hadlock Field. Binghamton won the completion of a suspended game by a 2-0 final, then shutout the 'Dogs again 5-0 in the nightcap.

GAME ONE RECAP

The Rumble Ponies already led 2-0 as the teams resumed the prior night's suspended game. Patrick Mazeika and Gavin Cecchini each had RBI doubles yesterday to put Binghamton ahead.

The Rumble Ponies bullpen held the Sea Dogs hitless over the remaining four innings and allowed just one baserunner (a walk) while combining to strike out six.

Matt Blackham (W, 5-2) earned the win with two perfect innings of relief and four strikeouts.

Konner Wade (L, 1-3) allowed two earned runs on seven hits in four innings.

Brent Taylor (S, 1) earned his first save of the year with a hitless seventh.

GAME TWO RECAP

Zach Lee went five scoreless innings and led Binghamton to a 3-0 victory in game two.

Lee (W, 1-0) allowed just two hits while walking one and striking out five.

Binghamton got to Sea Dogs' starter Kutter Crawford in the third inning. After two walks and a single, Crawford recorded an out at home plate but the next batter Barrett Barnes hit a sac fly to right to give the Ponies a 1-0 lead. Patrick Mazeika followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0.

Crawford (L, 1-2) didn't make it out of the third inning, he allowed two runs on three hits in 2.2 innings while walking four and fanning two.

Binghamton added an unearned run in the fourth off of Eduard Bazardo on a throwing error by catcher Jhon Nunez that allowed Braxton Lee to score.

Barrett Barnes padded the lead in the seventh with a two-run homer over the Maine Monster off of Durbin Feltman to make it 5-0.

Stephen Villines (S, 7) closed things out with two scoreless innings of relief.

The series continues tomorrow evening with a 6:00pm first pitch at Hadlock Field. RHP Denyi Reyes (3-9, 4.50) is scheduled to start for Portland against RHP Mickey Jannis (5-1, 2.56) of Binghamton. Pregame radio coverage begins on the WPEI US Cellular Radio Network at 5:45pm.
