Piscataquis SWCD Offers Tractor Safety and Operations Workshop

Tractor Safety Course
On Tuesday July 30th, 2019 from 5:30-8:30PM, Rick Kersbergen from University of Maine Cooperative Extension will be teaming up with Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) to offer a Tractor Safety & Operations 101 Workshop. We wanted to offer this opportunity to local farmers, residents and landowners (18+) who wish to learn basic tractor safety or have a refresher on how to safely operate farm equipment.
The Tractor Safety Tips Workshop will be at the Law Farm located on Lee Cemetery Rd. in Dover-Foxcroft. Rick and the PCSWCD  will go over the basics of learning how to handle tractors and equipment safely, how to identify hazards and how to minimize the chances of accidents. There will be no driving time, but a chance to ask questions and learn the tips and safety tricks of safely operating or learning more about a tractor. Registration is required and spots are limited for this event.
The Tractor Safety and Operations 101 workshop is a stepping stone for the Safe Tractor Operation Certification Course that is offered by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. If you are interested in furthering your knowledge or are a youth (ages 14-16) that has been hired to work on another person’s farm, this certification is required. You can receive more information by contacting Donna Coffin at donna.coffin@maine.edu or calling University of Maine Cooperative Extension Piscataquis County office at (207) 564-3301 to find a certification course available in 2020.
Come join us for this fun and informative workshop! Please contact the Piscataquis County Soil & Water Conservation District at 207-564-2321 ext. or email  info@piscataquisswcd.org to register. The cost for registration is $20.
Piscataquis County Soil & Water Conservation District and the University of Maine are equal opportunity employers and providers.
