Injured Hiker rescued from Grafton Notch After 25-Foot Fall

NEWRY, Maine –Maine Game Wardens were part of a multi-department rescue of an injured hiker on the Table Rock Trail in Grafton Notch. Just before 1:00 yesterday afternoon, game wardens received a report that Camryn Morton, age 19 of Gorham, was seriously injured and Game Wardens, a Grafton Notch park ranger, Newry and Bethel Fire Departments, Bethel Rescue and Mahoosuc Mountain Rescue responded to the area.

Morton had fallen approximately 25 feet down a rock ledge and she sustained several injuries to include a concussion and serious injuries to her wrists, elbow and pelvis. Rescuers provided initial treatment at the scene and then carried Morton to the top of the mountain where she was short-hauled to a safe area by a Maine Forest Service helicopter at 4:25 p.m. Once arriving there, Med Care Ambulance assisted game wardens and forest rangers in transferring Morton to an awaiting Life Flight helicopter that took off at 4:55 p.m. She was then flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland for further treatment. Morton had been hiking with one other friend when the incident took place.
