Pimentel Impressives in Sea Dogs 6-1 Win

Gentile and Bermudez Each Drive in Three Runs

Portland, Maine - Stolmy Pimentel held the Reading Phillies (74-66) to one hit over six innings as the Portland Sea Dogs (68-71) defeated the Phillies 6-1 Saturday night at Hadlock Field.  The win was the Sea Dogs'41st at Hadlock Field this season equaling their all-time high as a Red Sox affiliate set in 2003.  Portland is 32-17 since the All-Star break and is proving to be a difficult road block in the Phillies quest to clinch a playoff spot.

Pimentel (6-7) fired six shutout innings allowing one hit and two walks while striking out six.  The 22 year-old tossed 78 pitches/52 for strikes.  Pimentel has been particularly impressive at Hadlock Field compiling a 5-0 record with a 2.52 ERA in 11 home games.

Zach Gentile went 3-for-4 with three RBI and Ronald Bermudez was 3-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Portland offense.

The Sea Dogs loaded the bases in the fourth inning on a lead-off single by Travis Shaw and Reading starter Trevor May issued two walks.  With the table set, Gentile ripped a May offering to left-field clearing the bases for a three run double.  Ronald Bermudez followed with a pinch-hit double to score Gentile giving Portland a 4-0 lead.

The Sea Dogs added a run in the sixth when Gentile singled, stole second, and scored on a Bermudez single.

Bermudez came through again in the eighth with a RBI single to score Shannon Wilkerson extending the Portland lead to 6-1.

Caleb Clay earned his ninth save tossing three innings of effective relief allowing one run on three hits.  The lone run scored on Cody Asche RBI double.

Xander Bogaerts was 2-for-4 with two singles, he has hit safely in 17 of 21 Double-A games including ten multi hit games.  The 19 year-old raised his average to .329.

May (10-13) suffered the loss for Reading allowing four runs on six hits in four innings of work.

The Sea Dogs will host their annual Field of Dreams game on Sunday at 1:00 PM, which will feature the team wearing replica 1926 Portland Eskimo uniforms.  Righty Allen Webster (0-0, 6.75) is slated to make his Hadlock Field debut.  Webster was the Dodgers second ranked prospect that was acquired by the Red Sox in the nine player trade that sent Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, and Nick Punto to the Dodgers.  Webster will be opposed by Reading righty Ethan Martin (4-0, 3.86).  The game can be heard live on 95.5/95.9 FM WPEI.  A limited number of tickets are available and can be purchased by calling the Sea Dogs Ticket Office at 207-879-9500 or online at www.seadogs.com.
