Two-Part Genealogical Workshop

Two-Part Genealogical Workshop October 6 and 13

Have you hit the proverbial road block in your genealogical research? This two-part workshop at the Camden Public Library will help you learn creative ways to find evidence and to avoid common pitfalls. Learn how to take a fresh look at what you’ve tried and what else you can do to find those pesky hidden ancestors. Participants will learn strategies for learning about births, marriages, and deaths even if they weren’t recorded, and how you might uncover evidence that leads you to discover and learn more about your elusive ancestors. Please feel free to bring a genealogical problem or two to discuss. Date:  Saturday, October 6 and October 13. Time: 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, in the Camden Public Library’s Picker Room. Cost is $5 per session, payable at the door.

The presenter is Carol Prescott McCoy, PhD (psychology), president of Find-Your-Roots.com, based in Brunswick, Maine, who has been solving genealogical problems for over 25 years. As past president of the Greater Portland Chapter of the Maine Genealogical Society, she has been leading a project to index early land deeds of Cumberland County. She specializes in New England, New York, and West Virginia and has a special love for using land and tax records. She enjoys uncovering the color and details of ancestors’ lives, not just the bare facts. She has taught workshops throughout New England and has been an adjunct faculty in Boston University’s Genealogy Certificate Program. A popular and entertaining speaker and coach, McCoy enjoys helping others to solve problems and build their skills.
