Three area artists donate artwork to support Art at Home fundraiser

Hallowell, Maine - Three area artists are supporting the Harlow Gallery's latest fundraiser by generously donating their artwork to help promote the 2nd annual Art at Home in Hallowell.  The artists are Ellen Gibson of Hallowell, Nancy Meader of Oakland and Mary Becker Weiss of Augusta.

Ticketholders participating in the Art at Home tour on Saturday, September 29th will be entered in a random prize drawing for one of the three original pieces of artwork on the day of the event, at 2:30pm at Easy Street Lounge (which is also on the Art at Home tour itself) at 7 Front Street in Hallowell.  Ticketholders must be present to win.   Ticket prices are $25 in advance or $30 the day of the event. Art at Home is a self guided tour of seven residences with private art collections. The participating homes, all in or near downtown Hallowell, were selected to showcase not only their residents' art collections, but also their relationships with their art, and the way art and living space are integrated in their personal spaces.  The featured homes represent diverse collections of two and three-dimensional art, represending life long personal collections.  Ticket holders will view a wide variety of art ranging from an original Picasso print to a vintage paint-by-number collection.  Of the 2011 tour last year, Hallowell resident Dawn Gallagher said, "This goes beyond art on view at a gallery or in a museum. Art is transformed within the context of a home, and it transforms the home as well. The room itself becomes an art composition, reflecting who lives there."

A detailed program guide will provide ticket holders with a map, information on the Art at Home collections and locations.  “Art at Home” ticket holders will be encouraged to explore Hallowell's many fine dining establishments and unique shops. Many Hallowell business will be offering promotional  discounts to ticket holders all day.
