Lewiston, Maine - The Franco-American Heritage Center is pleased to announce its offerings for the monthly La Rencontre luncheon, scheduled for Friday, October 5th. The luncheon begins at 11:30, is $7, and happens in the Franco Center's Heritage Hall at 46 Cedar Street in Lewiston. The lunch will be a ham dinner. The featured entertainment will be a musical presentation by vocalist Larry Gowell. Also, in addition, the Franco Center will be screening a short film on the History of the Sisters of Charity.
RSVPs for La Rencontre can be made by calling Claudette at 786-6936 or the Franco Center at 783.1585.
Local singer Larry Gowell will be making his Franco Center debut, performing a program of classics of American song from Broadway, inspirational, and pop music genres. Once a professional athlete playing for the likes of the New York Yankees, Gowell now spends his days as a semi-professional musician and, when time permits, insurance salesman and church choir member. At La Rencontre, 3 of Larry's albums will be available for any donation that one wants to give. Half of the proceeds from the sales of "Music For The Soul," "Movie Scores & Broadway Hits" and "Christmas Classics" will go directly to the Good Sheperd Food Bank. Gowell states, "I just got started and I have already raised $255 dollars in two public concerts so far. A lot of hungry people all around us need our help."
About La Rencontre:
The Franco Center presents La Rencontre as a way to reconnect with, entertain, and enjoy and our extended Franco-American family in the area. Meals and stories are shared, friends are reunited, and memories are made. All guests are more than welcome to join us.
We offer a fully catered luncheon, followed by a performance, both of which change every month. Our fun begins at 11:30am and continues until 1:30pm.
Part of our enjoyment of this gathering is that we strongly encourage our guests to speak in French. If English is spoken, you may be asked to make a small donation; all in good fun, of course.
This is our family table, and we invite you to join us to share your own stories.
