Blue Hill, Maine - Deer Isle resident and author Barbara Hattemer will read from her recently published book Field of Daisies on Thursday, October 4th at 7:00 PM at the Blue Hill Public Library. Field of Daisies is Barbara’s first published novel. She says that it is the story she has always wanted to tell-- based on her family’s experience with Alzheimer’s. As a potential fourth known generation Alzheimer’s victim, she has written the book to give hope to people who have the disease in their families and fear they may be next. To her delight, she has heard from readers who are finding comfort and help in dealing with aging parents and a wide range of relational problems.
Barbara Hattemer has been summering on Deer Isle since her earliest days. At that age she slept in a tent next to her parents’ tent as they built a summer cabin on a cove off Sand Beach Road in West Stonington. She and her husband and four children summered at the cabin until 1999 when they built a house on the property. Their children and grandchildren, who come every summer, still stay in the old cabin.
Barbara has belonged to the Deer Isle Morning Writer’s Group since 2000. She writes a blog on Epigenetic Science about how our positive and negative attitudes and lifestyles can change the way our genes are activated. To read her blog go to blog.barbarahattemer.com .
The event is free and the public is invited. Books will be available for sale and signing. For more information contact the Library at 374-5515.
