Final Perennial Gardening Class to be Held at Merryspring‏

Camden/Rockport, Maine - There’s no doubt that autumn has arrived, but that shouldn’t dissuade gardeners from tending to their plants. In her final lesson of the year, Andresen will show participants exactly what to cut and what to leave standing in autumn gardens. Some plants may have some value to wildlife, while others need to be cut as soon as the frost hits- “If it’s brown (or yellow), cut it down. If it’s green, let it be.” Her presentation will reference Tracy DiSabato-Aust’s essential gardening manual The Well Tended Perennial Garden, copies of which will be for available for purchase, as well as other garden tools and accessories.

Participants for this Talk should meet outside at Merryspring’s gazebo at noon. Guests are reminded to wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing to this event.

After owning and managing a garden design and maintenance business in Connecticut, Wendy and her husband Ray moved to Camden in 2006. Wendy currently serves as a volunteer at Merryspring, where she maintains the park's perennial beds.

Admission to the Tuesday Talks is free to Merryspring members and children, with a nominal $5 fee for non-members.
