Augusta, Maine - Maine author Kate Flora will kick off Lithgow Public Library’s ever-popular Mystery Month with a reading and book signing on Thursday, October 4 at 6:30 p.m.. In addition to Flora, the series features a slate of four other exciting Maine crime authors: Paul Doiron, Vicki Doudera, Beth Feeman and Gerry Boyle.
All Mystery Month programs are free and open to the public, and will take place in the library’s Reading Room. There will be an opportunity to purchase books at the programs.
Flora, a Maine native and former assistant attorney general, has written 12 books, including seven series mysteries featuring Thea Kozak; three gritty police procedurals starring Detective Joe Burgess; a suspense thriller (written as Katharine Clark), and a true crime. Finding Amy was a 2007 Edgar nominee and has been optioned for a movie. Her current projects include Death Dealer, a true crime involving a Canadian serial killer, a screenplay, and a novel in linked stories. Flora’s short stories have appeared in numerous anthologies, including the Sara Paretsky edited collection, Sisters on the Case. Flora spent seven years as editor and publisher at Level Best Books. She teaches writing for Grub Street in Boston. Her third police procedural in the Joe Burgess series, Redemption, was published earlier this year.
