Fournier brings a strong community orientation and background in the arts to her new position at the UCCPA. She has been heavily involved in the Maine community arts and cultural scene since moving to Maine in 2003.
In 2009 Fournier co-founded and now directs the Free Range Music Festival, a celebration of original music that showcases over thirty acts from all over the country every April in downtown Belfast. She also founded and directed Roots & Tendrils, a multi-disciplinary arts venue in Belfast that showcased and explored innovative movements in art and music from 2009 to 2011.
Most recently Fournier served as Office Manager of Waterfall Arts, a community arts center with locations in Belfast and Montville. There she also served as an art instructor, as well as co-organizer and curator of 2011’s Handmade, an annual show at Waterfall Arts featuring modern works by New England artists and crafters.
In addition to music and fine art, Fournier has a strong interest in Film. Since 2008 she has served in a variety of positions at Shadow Distribution, an independent film distribution company based out of Waterville. Since 2007, Fournier has filled various volunteer roles for the Maine International Film Festival including Submissions Coordinator, Programming Assistant and Digital Projectionist. In 2011 she served as the event’s Publicist. In 2005 Fournier served as Public Relations and Advertising Intern for the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival.
Fournier currently serves as a Board Member and Events Committee Chair for WERU-FM of Orland, a volunteer-powered and listener-supported community radio service. From 2009 to 2011, she also served on various committees for the Belfast Downtown Business Group and Our Town Belfast, a nationally recognized Maine Street Program committed to promoting vibrancy and viability in downtown Belfast.
Fournier is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in drawing. She has also attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore.
“Meg possesses a broad knowledge of the arts, has a strong community orientation and management skills, and is a creative individual,” noted Professor John Zavodny, Director of the Center for Environmental Arts and Humanities. “She will ensure that the UCCPA continues as a vibrant centre for the arts in the central Maine and mid-coast region.”

In 2011, Unity College was named to the top 30 of the Washington Monthly college rankings, and was one of eighteen U.S. colleges and universities named to The Princeton Review’s 2010 Green Rating Honor Roll.
