Georges River Land Trust to Raffle Greg Mort Print
Renowned artist Greg Mort has donated a special print to the Georges River Land Trust that embodies its mission. The Land Trust is raffling a signed and framed print of "Stewardship" with a one-of-a-kind remarque by Mort. Valued at $625, raffle tickets are $50 and are available at www.grlt.org/raffle or by calling 594-5166.
This striking watercolor was painted by Mort at his summer home and studio in Port Clyde, Maine, in the summer of 1991. The proceeds from the sale of the original painting were donated by Mort to pay for legal expenses related to the formation of the Land Trust. The original watercolor "Stewardship" now resides in the collection of The White House and has appeared in several publications including TIME Magazine and Carl Sagan's book, Pale Blue Dot. Mort will be hosting his annual open studio featuring "The Spirit Of Maine" at Fieldstone Castle in Port Clyde on August 4th & 5th.
In keeping with Mort’s long-term commitment to conservation and stewardship of our natural resources, the raffle of this print will help raise stewardship funds to care for the Land Trust’s conserved lands. Raffle ticket purchases will fund the monitoring, enhancement and management of more than 50 conserved easements and preserves throughout the St. George River watershed.
The raffle drawing will take place at Georges River Land Trust’s 25th anniversary celebration on August 19. The public is invited to join in the celebration, and contribute to the care of the lands and waters in our region by purchasing raffle tickets. For more information on this and other upcoming events, visit www.grlt.org/calendar.html or call (207) 594-5166.
Georges River Land Trust is committed to encouraging citizens to discover the river and care for the land throughout the 14 communities in the St. George River watershed.
