Norway, Maine - On Wednesday, June 13 at 7:00pm the Norway Historical Society will host Wayne Chandler’s presentation of the History of the Weary Club. Chandler is the current president of The Weary Club which began in 1923 and is a unique, one of a kind institution found only in Norway, Maine. The club features a neat, white one-story building right in the center of the town and has a storied history that has spread world-wide. Membership in The Weary Club remains strong and currently includes some 3rd generation members as well as “makers and dealers in cedar shavings, social gossip, political wisdom and Yankee philosophy”. The Weary Club is a part of Norway’s rich heritage and local institution.
