Local Restaurants Support 5th Annual ‘Eat for Pete’s Sake’ to Benefit Humane Society of Knox County

Local Restaurants Support 5th Annual ‘Eat for Pete’s Sake’ to Benefit Humane Society of Knox County

Thomaston, Maine - On Thursday, June 14, twenty-seven local restaurants will invite diners to “Eat for Pete’s Sake” and raise much needed funds for the Humane Society of Knox County.  On this special day, participating restaurants donate a percentage of their proceeds to help lost, abandoned and stray animals at the Thomaston Shelter.
Humane Society of Knox County Director Tracy Sala said: “We are thrilled so many wonderful local restaurants are joining in on this fundraising event, our fifth annual this year, and that it has become a popular tradition that people look forward to.  It’s the trifecta of fundraisers – shelter animals get the support they need, local restaurant owners get more business and our supporter/diners get a great meal while helping a great cause.”

Restaurants participating in the June 14th event include:  Serving lunch (11-2) -
Amalfi on the Water, Badger Cafe and Pub, Big Fish, Brass Compass, Fresh, Highlands Coffee House, Home Kitchen Café, Offshore Restaurant, Rockland Cafe,  Rock Harbor, and Thomaston Café.

And serving Dinner (5-9): Amalfi on the Water, Archer's,  Atlantica, Badger Cafe and Pub, Big Fish, Blue Sky Cantina, Cafe Mediterranean, Cafe Miranda, Come Spring Café, Craignair Inn and Restaurant, Fresh, Harbor Gawker, Hatchet Mountain Publick House, The Haven, In Good Company, Offshore Restaurant, Park Street Grille, Peter Otts, Primo, Rockland Cafe, Rock Harbor,  and Slipway.

Who is Pete?  “Pete” is just one of over  twelve hundred animals that come through the Humane Society of Knox County’s door each year needing food, shelter, medical care, love, attention and a permanent home. “Pete”, a.k.a Dingo, pictured, represents the twenty-six dogs, seventy-two cats, four rabbits and six birds who currently reside at the shelter along with forty five kittens in foster care awaiting adoption. Your support will help “Pete” and all his pals at the shelter while they wait for their perfect match and a home of their own.  So, go out and Eat for Pete’s Sake and for all the other animals at the shelter on June 14th so they know where their next meal is coming from. Bone Appetite!
