WATERVILLE, Maine – Dean Samuelson (Southbury,
Conn.) tallied a career-high six goals, to lead Maine Maritime Academy
men's lacrosse to a 14-6 North Atlantic Conference victory over Thomas
College on Wednesday night.
The Terriers struck first with a goal from Colby Blondin, but the
Mariners scored three-straight to close out the first-quarter with a 3-1
lead. The Mariners picked up where they left off in the second quarter,
outscoring the Terriers 3-1 to take a 6-2 lead at halftime.

(Biddeford, Maine) added back-to-back
man-up goals to give the Mariners
an 8-2 lead with 13:12 to go in the third quarter. Bryan Ferris found
the back of the net at 12:10, but Samuelson scored back-to-back goals to
give Maine Maritime a 10-3 lead with just under eight minutes to play
in the third. The Terriers added another goal to cut the deficit to 10-4
entering the final quarter.
Samuelson opened up the scoring in the fourth quarter, and the Mariners scored three more times to cruise to the 14-6 victory.
Samuelson led all players with six goals, while also dishing out an assist and scooping up a ground ball. Brendan Broderick (Massena, N.Y.) grabbed
two goals and dished out two assists, while scooping up a pair of
ground balls and Martel tallied a pair of goals and scooped up a ground
ball.
George Doe (Kennebunkport, Maine) grabbed his first-career goal, while scoping up two ground balls and causing a turnover. Grant-Roy and Tim Grant (East Northport, N.Y.) each
tallied a goal and an assist and T. Grant also led the Mariners with a
team-high six ground balls, going 7-for-12 on the faceoff and three
caused turnovers. Zachary Doucette (Portland, Maine) grabbed the other goal for the Mariners. Cody Schell (Pasadena, Md.) was solid in net for the Mariners, stopping nine shots in the victory.
Blondin led the Terriers with a hat trick and two assists, while
Ferris and Kade Strout grabbed the other scores for Thomas. Connon
Lamberton stopped 10 shots in net for the Terriers in just under 50
minutes of play, while Dakota Gendreau stopped three shots in net.
Maine Maritime Academy improves to 2-5 on the year and 2-0 in the
NAC, while the Terriers fall to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
The Mariners return to action on Tuesday, April 5 when they host Colby
College for a non-conference matchup at 4:00 p.m. on Ritchie Field.
