Colby (3-5 overall) fell 6-1 to Scranton University in the other
game Wednesday. The Mules have the day off before finishing the Florida
trip with a 1 p.m. game Friday against Eastern Connecticut State and a 3
p.m. start with Lawrence University.
Lallis pitched the final three innings for the Mules, allowing no
earned runs and just one hit. Julia Saul went the first four innings and
had five strikeouts.
Tori Sansone started the sixth inning with an infield single,
Skylar Labbe followed with a walk, and Emily Schatz loaded the bases
with a single. After a pitching change, Paige Hartnett walked to bring
in Sansone. Wiley Holton’s single brought in Labbe to make it 3-2. St.
Lawrence went back to its starting pitcher and Emma Berger greeted her
with a sacrifice fly to center field that tied the game when Schatz
scored. Grace Farnkoff had a sacrifice fly to left field to plate the
go-ahead run. Holton scored an insurance run when McLaughlin reached by
error.
Schatz went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Holton singled,
scored, and had one RBI. Hartnett scored a run and had an RBI, Berger
had her RBI single, and Hartnett scored and drove in one run.
In the Scranton game, the Mules scored a lone run in the opening
inning. However, Colby managed just four hits against winning pitcher
Morgan Rentzheimer.
McLaughlin, Labbe, Schatz, and Hartnett had the hits for Colby.
McLaughlin had a lead-off single and later scored on a two-out single by
Labbe.
