Maine Maritime freshman forward Alayne Felix
(Mahopac, N.Y.) has been selected the 2016 Eastern College Athletic
Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Women's Basketball Rookie of
the Year. Felix garners ECAC Rookie of the Year honors after claiming
the same award in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and by the Maine
Women's Basketball Coaches Association (Co-Rookie of the Year).

The forward led the NAC is scoring as she averaged 17.8 points per
game to go along with 6.9 rebounds per game and finished the 2015-16
season shooting 51.4 percent from the floor. In conference play alone,
Felix had a tremendous impact on the Mariners and the league this past
season. The rookie claimed the top ranking in NAC action in points with
17 per game, while she shot 49.3 percent (113-of-229) from the floor,
which also ranked her No. 1 in field goals made. The forward also
finished fourth in free-throw percentage (79.2%), fifth in offensive
rebounds per game (2.9), and 11th in rebounds per game (6.7). Felix was a
seven-time NAC Rookie of the Week, five-time ECAC Rookie of the Week,
three-time NAC Player of the Week, and a two-time NEWBA Rookie of the
Week selection.
