Bowdoin Women's Lacrosse Cruises to Non-Conference Win Over St. Joseph's

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team scored the first nine goals of the game en route to a 21-4 win over St. Joseph's College on Wednesday night on Ryan Field.

The Polar Bears, ranked 20th in the latest Division III poll, improve to 4-4 this season while the Monks fall to 6-2 overall.

  • Bowdoin wasted little time putting the contest out of reach as the Polar Bears scored five times in the first three minutes, including two from Lindsay Picard
  • The Polar Bears rolled off nine straight before St. Joe's got on the board with consecutive scores from Elyse Caiazzo and Jackie Wilson
  • Bowdoin finished the half with back-to-back goals by Hannah Hirschfeld, including a buzzer-beater that gave the hosts a 11-2 edge at the break
  • The Polar Bears quickly pushed the game into running time with two straight goals to open the second period and maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the contest

  • Hirschfeld scored a career-high four goals in the victory while Picard also netted four goals
  • Emma Beecher led all players with a six-point output including three goals and three assists
  • Megan O'Connor also had a hat trick for the Polar Bears, who got a game-high six draw controls from Annie Glenn
  • Jackie Wilson led St. Joseph's with two goals in the loss while Caiazzo had a team-best four draw controls
  • Bowdoin's Erin Morrissey (four saves, two goals) and Kayli Weiss (one save, two goals) each played a half in goal
  • Megan Baker permitted seven goals and made two saves in 10:19 before being replaced by Meghan Fullteron, who stopped seven shots and allowed 14 goals over the remaining 49:41 for the visitors
