Bowdoin Softball Splits Series Against Lawrence and Wisconsin-Oshkosh

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Bowdoin softball team split its Tuesday series, capturing a day opening five-inning victory against Lawrence before falling to Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

The Polar Bears are 7-5 following the 10-2 win of Lawrence and 8-1 loss to Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Game One Highlights
  • Bowdoin pushed six runs across the plate in the second inning against Lawrence. Julia Geaumont sparked the inning with a two run double to center. Caroline Rice followed suit with an RBI single up the middle. With the bases loaded, Katie Gately drove in all three runners with a double to center.
  • The Polar Bears produced another two runs in the third. Natalie Edwards tagged another double to left field and eventually came around to score off an RBI by Emily Griffin.
  • Ali Miller and Rice each tallied RBI singles in the top of the fifth to extend Bowdoin's lead to 10-0.
  • Lawrence spoiled the shutout with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Savanna Marsicek singled, driving in a run, and Meg Krautsch drove in Anna Wawiorka.
  • Emily Griffin earned the win for Bowdoin going four innings with eight strikeouts. Griffin allowed two his and three walks. 
Game Two Highlights
  • Wisconsin-Oshkosh road a five-run third to an overall 8-1 victory in the Tuesday nightcap. Two doubles and three singles combined to drive in all five runs as the Titans took command quickly.
  • Bowdoin responded with its only run of the game in the following inning off an RBI single from Rice.
  • The Titans added three more runs in the next two innings, including an RBI single and double.
  • Geumont suffered her first loss of the season in the circle, allowing 16 hits with four strikeouts.
Up Next
  • Bowdoin plays its second to last doubleheader of its Florida trip beginning at 1:00 p.m.  against Luther on Thursday.
