Husson to Host 1st Annual Stephen Colvin Lifting Competition

BANGOR, Maine — Husson University athletic department along with the Husson University Football program is pleased to announce the 1st Annual Stephen Colvin Memorial Powerlifting Competition on April 30 2016 inside Newman Gymnasium.

Stephen Colvin was a Hoosik Falls Central School class of 2011 graduate who believed in himself and believed in those who competed with him on the field. Stephen was also a Husson University student and member of the Husson Eagle Football team. As a captain of the HFCS football team, he brought everyone on the team to the next level because he made them believe in themselves, as he believed in himself. If he could not physically beat his opponent, he would do so with pure drive and determination. If he could not do it alone, he did it with the help of his teammates. Stephen was an example of what a teammate should be, and was loved by all his teammates at HFCS and at Husson University. Stephen lived life to the fullest and wanted those around him to do the same. It is because of that belief, his friends, family and community have come together to make the Stephen W. Forrest Colvin Scholarship Fund a reality.

The Stephen W. Forrest Colvin Scholarship Fund has been set up through his friends, family and community to assist those with dreams of playing college level sports, as Stephen did, can become a reality. There will be one male and one female candidate chosen each year.

The competition will be held on April 30th at 9 o'clock at Husson University in the Newman Gymnasium. The event is open to all those who wish to participate. The competition will benefit the Stephen W. Forrest Colvin Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The event will consist of three lifts; Squat, Bench, and Deadlift. Competitors will pay a $20 entry fee, and must be present half an hour before their division is scheduled to lift for a weigh-in and review of rules. An official schedule will be released as the events gets closer.
