Trekkers Hires New AmeriCorps Member‏

Trekkers Hires AmeriCorps Member
Alaina Ennamorati will help strengthen
organization's volunteer capacity and outreach.
Tenants Harbor, Maine - Trekkers announced today that Alaina Ennamorati has begun an 11 month term of service as an AmeriCorps volunteer funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Alaina will work within the communities of Cushing, St. George, Thomaston, South Thomaston, Owls Head and Rockland to expand and maintain Trekkers programming and organizational capacity. Alaina was recruited in partnership with the Great Strides Rural Education Corps, an AmeriCorps program of Goodwill Industries of Northern New England.

Alaina grew up locally in Waldoboro and recently returned to the area while completing her field work for her graduate degree in Intercultural Service, Leadership, and Management at SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, VT. She completed her degree in July through AmeriCorps, where she served an 11 month term as a Programs Coordinator at Hardy Girls Healthy Women in Waterville. She graduated in 2008 from Northeastern University with a BA in Journalism and Spanish Minor. Alaina loves to travel, meet new people, run, write, and work with youth in a variety of capacities, including sport, literacy, one-on-one and in groups.

I am so excited to join the Trekkers team and have the opportunity to serve in the Midcoast area, where I grew up. I really believe in the organization's mission and look forward to building relationships with youth through adventure-based programming, said Alaina.

Specifically, Alaina will be the Program Coordinator, working to expand offerings including tutoring and Trekkers peer mentoring program Big Trek/Little Trek. Alaina will also help in organizing expeditions, recruiting volunteers and overall administrative assistance.
